There’s Light
in the Darkest Places.
Let us show you.
LITD Trauma Counseling, PLLC
Trauma has taken so much from you.
You used to be able to sleep peacefully through the night… but now sleep comes in fits and starts, interrupted by nightmares.
Your concentration is punctuated with intrusive memories you wish you could forget.
You fly off the handle now at the slightest provocation, leading to strained relationships with those closest to you.
You feel detached, disconnected from your life, like you’re watching it from the outside.
Sometimes you even blame yourself, thinking surely this must be all your fault.
You’ve tried to forget what you saw or experienced… but you can’t.
You’ve tried everything to find your way back to the light… but you don’t know how.
Can we hit Pause?
……………………………………………………………………….
If this is you, it’s important for you to KNOW:
Your experience is valid.
You’re not crazy.
What you’ve seen or experienced is heavy and painful.
While our bodies were designed to alert us to danger, sometimes we become stuck in a hyper-vigilant state after a traumatic experience—even when the danger has long passed.
The trauma responses you’re experiencing are your body’s way of trying to protect you.
Even though trauma casts a dark shadow, it is possible to find healing for your body, your mind, and your heart.
Sometimes you just need someone to show you how and light the way.

Christian Counseling and Evidence-based Trauma Counseling
Maybe you’ve sought out help before. Perhaps you’ve been instructed to just pray more, read your Bible regularly, or have more faith. Maybe you were told that if you aren’t experiencing healing, then you must not be trusting God enough.
We don’t do that here.
At LITD, we take a unique approach to faith-based Christian counseling. By using evidence-based treatments backed by neuroscience, we honor and appreciate the way our bodies were created by God to function. We recognize that trauma responses are the body’s attempt to protect us from harm, and we can approach them with curiosity and compassion.
We also recognize trauma affects more than just our nervous system. Trauma also impacts what we believe about God, and how we interact with Him. In cases of religious trauma, it can feel particularly challenging to untangle faith from the symptoms of trauma.
We are committed to holding space for those grappling with questions of faith while healing from trauma. We are here to walk with you through your healing journey and integrate your faith to the degree you are comfortable.

Who we work with…
Helping Professionals + Frontline Workers
You work on the front lines helping others, bearing witness to pain and suffering every day. This includes first responders, veterans, pastors, nonprofit workers, therapists/social workers, and other healthcare professionals. Many people in helping professions take pride in what they do, and struggle to be the ones asking for help. But your longevity as a helper depends on getting the help you need, before you burn out.
Trauma Survivors
Perhaps you’ve experienced domestic violence, childhood abuse, sexual assault, or an environmental disaster like flooding or tornadoes. Whatever the case, you are a brave survivor of trauma. While your trauma may have taken a lot from you, it certainly doesn’t define you. By choosing the courageous work of healing, you can reclaim what’s been lost and bring light back into your story.

Post-Adoption Support Services Available at LITD
Has your family adopted through foster care? You’re not alone — and you don’t have to navigate the healing process alone, either.

Who is eligible?
These services are available to:
- Parents or caregivers of children adopted from foster care
- Families with legal guardianship (permanency) through CPS
- Children, teens, and young adults who were adopted or placed through foster care
You do not need to have adopted recently — we welcome families years into their adoption or permanency journey.
What services are included?
Through this grant-funded program, LITD offers:
- Individual therapy for children, teens, or caregivers
- Family therapy to support connection, healing, and communication
- Caregiver support groups to help you feel seen, equipped, and encouraged
Our team specializes in trauma-responsive, adoption-competent care that integrates the latest brain science with a deeply compassionate, relational approach. We’re here to support the whole family.
What to Expect in Trauma Counseling at LITD
Step 1: Book a free consultation.
The consult is typically a 15-minute phone call where you can ask us questions and we can assess the kind of help you’re looking for. This also gives both of us a chance to determine if we would be a good fit for working together.
Step 2: Schedule your first appointment + submit new client paperwork.
Once we’ve decided to move forward, we’ll book your first appointment (virtual and in-person options available). We’ll also send the necessary paperwork for you to complete electronically before your first appointment.
Step 3: Begin therapy sessions.
In the first session, we’ll learn a little more about you, your history, and your story. From there, we’ll work together to establish treatment goals and a plan for achieving them. At LITD, we lean on a combination of well-researched therapies to inform treatment. Applied Polyvagal Theory addresses the body’s physiological responses to trauma, while Cognitive Processing and Cognitive Behavioral Therapies focus on the negative thoughts and beliefs that formed as a result of trauma.
Step 4: Wrap up and establish follow up cadence.
Our goal is not to create lifelong clients. It’s to empower you to know that you are capable and have the tools to flourish, whatever life may bring. We’ll celebrate your growth and your victories, review the tools at your disposal, and agree on a cadence for follow up, if needed.

Investing in Trauma Therapy
We believe that getting quality trauma therapy by trained professionals is one of the best investments you can make in yourself and your future.
We also believe that finances should never be a barrier to quality trauma treatment. We want to work with you to provide access to the trauma care you need, within your budget.
Pay What You Can

We offer a pay-what-you-can billing model, which means we accept any payment between $80-$130 per session.* You have the option and flexibility to change your payment amount within this range to fit your budget.
Scholarships / Grants

A limited number of scholarships are available each year for clients going through a particularly difficult time, who cannot afford the minimum $80 per session. We also have a grant for families created by adoption to receive sessions at no cost.
Sponsorships

Sometimes a church or nonprofit will choose to sponsor a specific individual to receive trauma therapy. To explore this option, start by talking to your local pastor or nonprofit leader.
*In order to provide a high level of customized care and treatment, we do not accept insurance. We will provide you with a superbill (upon request) if you wish to seek reimbursement from your insurance company. Please be aware that not all insurance companies will provide reimbursement. Some sessions (with student interns) or treatment options (intensives) may be more or less than the rate scale. A Good Faith Estimate will be provided to each client for transparency.

Are my trauma counseling sessions confidential?

There are three exceptions to confidentiality:
- If the therapist believes you are at risk of harming yourself or others.
- If in the course of the session, the therapist becomes aware of child or elderly abuse or neglect.
- In rare cases of counseling records being subpoenaed.

Call: 940.239.9169
Email: light@litdtrauma.com
Where are you located?
The LITD Trauma Counseling office is located in downtown Wichita Falls at 900 8th Street in the Hamilton Building. However, we also offer virtual therapy to Texas residents who are unable to attend in-person counseling sessions.
Do you offer virtual therapy?
Yes, we provide online therapy for Texas residents who are unable to come to our office in Wichita Falls.
Do you accept insurance?
We currently accept Aetna, Cigna, and United Healthcare. We are paneling with Tricare/Triwest. and are taking referrals now. We can also provide a Superbill upon request if you wish to seek reimbursement from your insurance company.
What if my coworkers/family/friends find out I’m going to therapy?
Your identity as a client and the content of your sessions is confidential. If I happen to see a current or former client in public, I do not initiate contact in order to protect their identity.
If I start going to therapy, does that mean my faith is too weak?
No. This is a misconception in the faith community. Because of modern neuroscience, we know that trauma literally rewires your brain. In order to experience healing, we have to help your brain create new pathways that will guide you back toward health.
I’ve been to Christian counseling before, but they just told me to pray more. How is this different?
Prayer is an important part of faith and spirituality. However, it can also be a triggering in cases of religious trauma and abuse. Additionally, when it is used to avoid addressing the emotional or psychological issues causing pain, this is a form of spiritual bypassing that actually hinders growth and healing. At LITD, we use well-researched, evidence-based techniques that acknowledge the way God created our bodies and brains to function, while also honoring the role that faith plays in our lives.

Don’t Let Trauma Define Your Life Story
Asking for help is scary. But it’s also brave. And it’s the first step to taking back your story.
You don’t have to let your trauma control the narrative. It’s time to shine light into the darkest places of your story.
